When Beijing is shrouded in the biggest sandstorm in nearly 10 years, Mongolia is experiencing a major sandstorm. From the evening of March 13 to the morning of March 15, the severe sandstorm has killed six people in the country, and more than 80 herdsmen are still missing.
Mongolia once had 80% of its land covered by grassland, but now about 70% of the grassland has been destroyed. Mining and climate change are regarded as one of the destructive factors, but the main cause of grassland degradation is overgrazing.
